India: A meeting on rising prices in India, chaired by Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, recommended the use of technology and GPS to track vehicles carrying essential commodities for better management of the public distribution system (PDS). The meeting at the Prime Minister's House attended by eight chief ministers and his senior cabinet colleagues, was convened specially to discuss the rising inflation that is feared to cross the double-digit mark.The meeting recommended more involvement of Panchayati Raj (village bodies) institutions in working of the PDS. The meeting came against the backdrop of India's annual food inflation based on wholesale prices rising to 17.7 percent for the week ended March 27 from 16.35 percent the week before. Over the past 52 weeks, pulses have become costlier by 32.6 percent, milk by 21.12 percent, wheat by 13.34 percent and rice by 8.8 percent, while the prices of potatoes and onions have started easing.The core group was set up in February with the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattishgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal as members.In addition, attendees at the meeting were Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the prime minister's Economic Advisory Council head C. Rangarajan.According to officials, six main issues were discussed during the meeting:- How to raise the country's farm productivity,- How to bridge the gap between prices at farm-gate and retail market,- How the Essential Commodities Act can be strengthened to prevent hoarding,- How to ensure better delivery of food and strengthen the public distribution system,- How the warehousing network in the country can be augmented, and- How to ensure better seeds and fertilisers at fair prices to farmers.

South Africa: An anthropology professor from South Africa has used Google Earth (satellite imagery) to find a new human ancestor. He found two partial skeletons, dating between 1.78 and 1.95 million years ago, that belong to the species now known as Australopithecus sediba."Professor Lee Berger from Witswatersrand University in Johannesburg started to use Google Earth to map various known caves and fossil deposits identified by him and his colleagues over the past several decades," according to the Official Google Blog.Berger developed a correlation between the appearance of caves in satellite images and the presence of fossil deposits. He started with 130 cave sites in the region around the Cradle of Humankind area northwest of Johannesburg and about 20 fossil deposits. 20-year-old Jewish student from Chicago,studying at a yeshiva in Jerusalem was with his friends in the cab to visit the Western Wall. The cab driver taken shortcut through one of the Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem. Suddenly the mob of 40 Palestinian attcks there car with stones.

But, New York Times, Associated Press and other major media outlets published a photo of a young man -- bloodied and battered -- crouching beneath a club-wielding Israeli policeman. The caption identified him as a Palestinian victim of the recent riots -- with the clear implication that the Israeli soldier is the one who beat him..

The real victim said :-
'When a photo gets published, there are many links in the chain, and in this case, I don't know where the fault for the garbled caption lies. But it is deeply disturbing that the New York Times, the Associated Press (and everyone else in-between) assumed that if it's a victim, it must be a Palestinian'

I think in India we all are same victims of the media. We never know the truth behind the scene. There is always a question mark on media's role. When there is a attack on Hindu in this country, there is no one from media raise their voice against it, but vice versa media always try to sympathies Muslim, christian community and blamed Hindu's for it.

जनगणना के अंतर्गत जातिगणना सामाजिक समरसता  एवम एकात्मता के प्रयासों को दुर्बल करेगी --- भैय्याजी जोशी http://rssonnet.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=125 दिनांक २३ मे २०१०, नागपुर राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के नागपुर स्थित महाल मुख्यालय में आज संघ के सरकार्यवाह श्री. भैय्याजी जोशी ने पत्रकारों को दिए गए एक विशेष वक्तव्य में कहा की  जनगणना के अंतर्गत जातिगणना सामाजिक समरसता एवम एकात्मता के प्रयासों को दुर्बल करेगी| सम्पुर्ण वक्तव्य यहाँ प्रस्तुत है सरकार्यवाह श्री. भैया जी जोशी की नागपुर में 23/5/2010, रविवार को दोपहर में हुई प्रेसवार्ता का शब्दांकन अभी इस समय जनगणना की तैयारी चल रही है। इसमें दो-तीन विषय हैं, जिन्हें मैं आपके सामने रखना उचित समझता हूँ। एक, इसी समय नेशनल पापुलेशन रजिस्टर बनाने की बात शुरू हुई है, यह तो बनेगा पर इसमें जो विदेशी नागरिक भारत के अन्दर बसते हैं, अवैध रूप से बसे हुए हैं, उनकी जानकारी भी इसमें आने की संभावना है। संघ का निवेदन है कि, माँग है सरकार के सामने कि इस नेशनल पापुलेशन रजिस्टर को और जो बहुउद्देश्यीय पहचान पत्र दिया जायेगा उसके लिए इसे आधार न मानें। 2003 में उस समय की सरकार ने एक नेशनल रजिस्टर आफ सिटीजन्स तैयार करने का निर्णय किया था, हमारी माँग है कि उसी को लागू किया जाये। और यह जो पहचान पत्र दिया जायेगा, जो नागरिकता का कानून है उसको आधार बनाकर ही दिया जाये। अन्यथा सम्भावना है कि बहुत से विदेशी नागरिकों को भी पहचान पत्र मिलेगा। इससे, हमें लगता है कि देश की अखण्डता और सुरक्षा पर प्रश्नचिन्ह लग सकता है, खतरा बन सकता है।  उसी के साथ-साथ एक और विषय जो मैं आपके सामने रखना उचित समझता हूँ कि जनगणना में जातिगणना की माँग भी चल रही है। अपने जो संविधान निर्माता डा. बाबा साहब अम्बेडकर जी और उनके समान ही विचार करने वाले लोगों ने जातिविहीन समाज की कल्पना की है। इस प्रकार जाति आधारित गणना उस भावना को छेद देने वाली है, ऐसा लगता है। संविधान ने आरक्षण के संदर्भ में- शेड्यूल्ड कास्ट्स, शेड्यूल्डस ट्राइब्स, यह जो सूत्र दिये हैं, इस प्रकार की जाति आधारित गणना करने से उन सूत्रों को भी ध्यान में रखने की आवश्यकता रहेगी तो ऐसा निर्णय होगा। हम अनुभव करते हैं कि कई प्रकार की संस्थाओं के द्वारा, व्यक्तियों के द्वारा, संगठनों के द्वारा सामाजिक समरसता और एकता बनाये रखने के लिए कई प्रकार के प्रयास चल रहे हैं। हमारा मानना है कि इस प्रकार की गणना करने से उन सारे प्रयत्नों को दुर्बलता होगी। इसलिए इस संदर्भ में भी बहुत कुछ विचार करने की आवश्यकता है। राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ का काम पहले से ही जाति भावना से ऊपर उठकर समाज विचार करे, संगठित हो, ऐसा रहा है। समग्र समाज का संगठन करने का काम कई वर्षों से रहा है। उसमें हम मानते हैं कि इस प्रकार की भावनाएँ यदि विकसित होती हैं। तो कुल मिलाकर यह सामाजिक ताना-बना खतरे में आ सकता है। ठीक है कि हिन्दू समाज का ‘अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग’ जिसको माना जाता है, जिसे ओ. बी. सी. कहा जाता है, उनके आरक्षण के संदर्भ में जो प्रावधान करने की बात है, उस पर अलग प्रकार से विचार हो, उसके मानदण्ड अलग से निर्धारित किए जायें। आज सारे देश में उसमें कोई समानता है, ऐसा दिखाई नहीं देता है। तो इस संदर्भ में भी बहुत गम्भीरता से विचार करने की आवश्यकता ध्यान में आती है। राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के नाते, हमारी मांग है कि इसकी राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर बहस हो। भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के यह प्रश्न सामाजिक सद्भाव के प्रश्न हैं, सामाजिक जीवन से जुड़े हुए प्रश्न हैं और इसलिए भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के सामाजिक समूहों से भी इसकी एक व्यापक बहस चलनी चाहिए, विचार-विमर्श होना चाहिए। और कोई भी निर्णय करने के पूर्व ऐसी सारी प्रक्रिया हो और उसके बाद निर्णय होना उचित रहेगा, ऐसा संघ मानता है। विशेष रूप से दो बातें, नेशनल पापुलेशन रजिस्टर बनाते समय विदेशी नागरिकों के संदर्भ में, उनके पहचान का प्रावधान नहीं है, तो निश्चित किया जाए। और मल्टी परपज आइडेन्टिटी कार्ड को देते समय भी इस पर विचार होना चाहिए। कानून बना हुआ है 2003 में, उसको ध्यान में लाकर इसको लागू करें और उसके आधार पर ही पहचान पत्र देना चाहिए। और जाति के बारे में अपनी बातें मैंने आपके सामने रखी। प्रश्न 1. कुछ संघ परिवार के लोग हैं, वह बढ़चढ़कर ऐसी डिमांड कर रहे हैं। ............... गोपीनाथ मुंडे जो हैं .............? उत्तर - राजनैतिक दल क्या सोचें और क्या कहें......... मैंने संघ की राय आपके सामने रखी। प्रश्न 2. अपने जो लोग हैं, पोलिटिकल आर्डर में, उन तक विचार नहीं पहुँचा है ? उत्तर - उनकी अपनी एक सोच है, उनका एक राजनैतिक क्षेत्र है, उसमें वे जैसा चाहें, उचित समझें, करें।इन प्रश्नों को उनके सामने रखा जायेगा। हमने आज तक, संघ की जो रीति है, संघ की जो सोच है, उसको आपके सामने रखा है। हम चाहते हैं कि देश इसके कारण, समरसता और एकात्मता के जो प्रयास हैं, जातिविहीन समाज की जो कल्पना है, उसको इसके कारण ठेस पहुँचने वाली है। प्रश्न 3. इस सामाजिक सच्चाई को आप स्वीकार करेंगे कि आज भी समाज में विवाह आदि संबंध लेके तमाम चीजें जाति के आधार पर ही होती हैं। आजादी के बाद भी जातियों को लेकर डेमोग्राफी हुई है, उसमें OBC को लेकर आँकड़े अलग-अलग हैं। सुप्रीम कोर्ट भी इस संबंध में यह कह चुका है कि हमारे पास इसका कोई एक फिगर नहीं है, तो अगर कोई एक्जैक्ट साइंटिफिक फिगर निकाली जाती तो उसमें क्या विरोध हो सकता है? उत्तर - हमारा विरोध नहीं। मैंने कहा है इसमें कि, इसके बारे में भिन्न भिन्न प्रकार की बहस हो और सामाजिक समूहों की राय इसमें ली जाए और फिर इसका निर्णय करें। हमने कहा है कि मापदण्ड निर्धारित किए जायें, OBC के आरक्षण के विरोध का तो सवाल ही नहीं आता। प्रश्न 4. कास्ट -बेस्ड सेंसस नहीं होना चाहिए ये आपका कहना है ? उत्तर - हाँ, कास्ट-बेस्ड नहीं होना चाहिए । ओ. बी. सी. का मतलब ही ‘अदर बैकवर्ड क्लास’ है तो क्लास के आधार पर ही इसे सेटल्ड भी किया जाए, इस पर विचार किया जाए। प्रश्न 5. सेंसस की तैयारी चली, यह चालू भी हो गई, एक राउंड हो भी रहा है, आप इतना लेट अभी ........ संघ इतना ........? उत्तर - इसकी बहस अभी शुरू हुई है। 1930 से लेकर आज तक कभी कास्ट को लेकर सेंसस नहीं हुआ है, पहली बार यह मांग उठी है। जब पहली बार यह मांग उठी...... प्रश्न 6 नहीं, SC, ST, तो पूछा जाता है ..... उत्तर - तो उतना ही,  .........., कैटेगरी ही पूछी है, कास्ट नहीं पूछी। शेड्यूल्ड कास्ट पूछा है, शेड्यूल्ड ट्राइब पूछा है, उसका कोई संबंध नहीं है। आज सभी की जातियाँ जानने की कोशिश हो रही है। प्रश्न 7 संसद में यह बात निकली है, पार्टीयों में कन्सेन्सस हो गया है। उसके काफी दिन बाद, एक महीने बाद यह....? उत्तर - उसमें दो प्रकार के ओपिनियन आ रहे हैं। कोई विरोध करने वाले भी उसी प्रकार खड़े हैं, सभी दलों में से हैं। कास्ट के अनुसार जनगणना करना, उसका विरोध करने वाले भी हैं। प्रश्न 8. मैं सीधे-सीधे एक प्रश्न यह पूछना चाहता हूँ कि क्या भा. ज. पा. से चर्चा हुई है, नहीं हुई है तो क्या चर्चा कर रहे हैं? उत्तर - भा. ज. पा. से इस बारे में चर्चा करने की हमको बहुत ज्यादा आवश्यकता है। संघ ने इस बारे में जो सोचा है, प्रारंभ से जो चिंतन हमारा है, उसको मैंने आपके सामने रखा। प्रश्न 8. आपका अर्थ है कि केवल कैटेगरी पूछी जाये? एस. सी., एस. टी ............? उत्तर - एस. सी., एस. टी. पूछने का तो विरोध है ही नहीं, वह संविधान में दिया हुआ अधिकार है। उसके बारे में स्थिति स्पष्ट है। एस. सी., एस. टी. , ओ. बी. सी. पूछने का विरोध नहीं ? ... उत्तर -   हाँ, ओ. बी. सी. का कोई स्टैण्डर्ड कहाँ बना हुआ है। अलग-अलग राज्यों में अलग-अलग जातियाँ हैं। किस आधार पर ओ. बी. सी. का काउंटिंग किया जाये? उसका कोई निर्धारण नहीं किया है। इसलिये हमने माँग की है कि जरा इसके मानदण्ड निर्धारित करें और बाद में करें। प्रश्न 10. मानदण्डों के बारे में आपका कोई सुझाव है क्या? उत्तर - नहीं हमारा कोई सुझाव नहीं है। जब चर्चा चलेगी, तब इसके बारे में सोचकर बतायेंगे। प्रश्न 11. यानि आप कहते हैं कि पहले बहस हो, उसमें जो निकले, उस पर ही? उत्तर - उसी से। राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर इसकी बहस होनी चाहिए। इस प्रकार के बड़े कार्य की बात आप करने जा रहे हो और इसकी चर्चा कहीं पर नहीं हुई है। हमारी इच्छा है, हमारी अपेक्षा है कि शासन राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर इसकी बहस चलाये, भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के सामाजिक समूहों से चर्चा करे। विचार-विमर्श करके इस बारे में निर्णय हो। उचित वही होगा, सबकी राय ली जाये। प्रश्न 12. एक दूसरा मुद्दा है, अवैध रूप से बसे हुए विदेशी नागरिकों को पहचान पत्र देने का प्रावधान नहीं है, इसमें ओरिजिनल एक्ट है और एक आई. एम. डी. टी. एक्ट भी है? उत्तर - नहीं, यह जो नेशनल पापुलेशन रजिस्टर बन रहा है, उसमें नहीं है। उसके आधार पर वह आइडेन्टिटी कार्ड देते हैं तो समस्या है। आइडेन्टिटी कार्ड देते समय इस पर विचार किया जाय। प्रश्न 13. अवैध रूप से आकर बसे हुए जो लोग हैं, 3.5 करोड़ - 4 करोड़ उनकी संख्या बतायी जाती है? उत्तर - सभी आज इसको स्वीकार करते हैं कि बहुत से अवैध विदेशी नागरिक हैं भारत में। उनकी भी इसमें अगर ........ नेशनल सिटिजन्स में आ जाते हैं तो खतरा है। चलिए, धन्यवाद आपका।

Mrs Sonia Gandhi is weakening the fight against armed and violent Naxalites. Her 'cause and consequence' statement published in her party's mouthpiece Congress Sandesh followed a pattern and made the home minister crestfallen.

First she allowed Digvijay Singh and then Mani Shankar Aiyar to have a dig at the country's home minister when he needed support most. Then her own statement caused a strange situation which gave a clear message that she doesn't approve of Chidambaram's approach. There couldn't  have been  anything more damaging  to the morale of the chief leading a difficult war against Maoists, who had so far rejected all appeals by Chidambaram to shun violence and come to talks with government.

Sonia Gandhi didn't have a word of sympathy or praise for India's home minister, who also happens to belong to her party. Leave aside appreciating the security forces and assuring all help to Raman Singh, chief minister of Chhattisgarh. After all, Raman Singh too is an Indian and has been trying to wage the battle against the barbarians, which is singularly in stark contrast with other Naxalite-affected states. The victims of Naxal violence too are Indians and hence shouldn't it be the dharma of polity to help forge a unity on the issue of protecting Indians?

But instead she has encouraged her party men to criticize not only her own government's chief strategist against Naxal violence, but also the chief minister at a moment when both need the country's undiluted support.

Surprisingly not only the 'otherwise independent and objective' media are silent on her statement's devastating effect on the morale of the home minister and that of the security forces engaged in a difficult fight with one hand tied and the other wounded. The honourable Prime Minister has simply gone invisible. This is an atrociously amazing feat. He doesn't know whether as the head of the government, at least constitutionally, he should help his colleague fight to the finish successfully or support his mentor Sonia's prescription which amounts to help Naxals. The lone voice of protest on Sonia's pro-Naxal stand came from the inimitable Arun Jaitley. Isn't it a sad reflection on the so-called 'independent and fearless' leaders of public opinion?

It would be unacceptable that Sonia Gandhi didn't know of Chidambaram's earlier statements and interviews in the media. He had been constantly appealing the Naxalites to come to the talking table and shun violence. He is on record saying that the Naxalites are not allowing any developmental activity to be carried out in the region under their effective control. Hospitals, schools, road construction, farming activities, nothing is allowed to be helped by the state government apparatus. They are murderers and criminals, he said. It's not the Naxalites but Sonia who has defeated the warrior midway. Chidambaram's interview on a channel showed him in a dejected and anguished mood. The one who was roaring like a charged infantryman with his home secretary Pillai religiously following the line and expressing the pains and anguish of Indians on the support South Delhi's intellectual elite provides to the murderers, suddenly changed track and offered talks to the Naxals. Not wasting any time Sonia's 'development seeker' boys rejected the offer. Then Chidambaram issued a statement saying meekly: "We have to change our approach to deal with Maoists." What approach and which changes?

Why?

As a mother she must know the security personnel too belong to mothers and their families too mourn their martyrdom. Security forces are there to protect the Constitution and they act on the orders of a democratically elected government.  Their death is often unsung in a 'secular' media and polity that finds it more fashionable and 'bold' to glorify those who are simple murderers for the sake a revolution whose implementation they have not been able to show in any of their pocket boroughs.

The Naxalites have been found collaborating with Islamist jihadis through the ISI and the ULFA in West Bengal. Their sophisticated weaponry and guerrilla warfare expertise to take on the Indian security forces show how deep they have been entrenched in the anti-India circle of foreign powers.

Besides, there is another issue, too sensitive and significant to any patriotic citizen, especially those who understand the feelings of a mother. The Naxalites have killed hundreds of farmers and small agricultural labourers on the suspicion of their being police informers or simply rejecting their demands to send their kids to join the Naxalites' ranks.

When a father is killed by the Naxalites, where do the children of such families go? With no earning member surviving in the family, such children land up in orphanages run by various NGOs in Chhattisgharh. The plight of children when their parents are slaughtered, often before their own eyes, is unimaginable. There are hundreds of kids in Chhattisgarh whose parents were brutally killed by Maoist 'development seekers'. Has Sonia Gandhi or Arundhati Roy ever, even once, tried to wipe the tears of those children who have been turned orphans by the savages of Mao?

I am giving here the pictures of some of such kids, turned orphans by Maoists. Our 'secular' sirens are worse child abusers than paedophiles. Not only are they making Indian children of parents unyielding to Naxal blackmail orphans but also forcing young kids to join their gangs to do menial jobs and take up guns in their jungle hideouts when their age demands them to go to school, study and play games.

For example, in just one family Shanti Teram, Jayavati Teram and Janaki Teram, sisters, were orphaned when their father was murdered by the Naxalites. All the three are sisters are now in an orphanage at Raipur.  I have a list of 50 children, 39 girls and 11 boys, of the age group 5 to 14 in one district area only. Imagine little girls and boys of this age group living without their parents in an orphanage. What was their crime?

Can this be an 'appreciable' or 'understandable' act of 'development seekers'? Instead of consolidating the pro-India voices of reason and social welfare, why are people like Sonia Gandhi and Digvijay Singh weakening the battle that Indira Gandhi once won through Siddhartha Shankar Ray in Bengal showing grit and nationalism?

It's high time an all-party meet devised a consensus on tackling the Naxalite problem. I strongly recommend Lt. Gen Jacob to be consulted on this issue to improve more effectively the present method of anti-Naxal operations. It's noteworthy that Gen Jacob conducted counter-insurgency operations in Nagaland that led to the signing of the Shillong accord in 1975. Twelve years of peace followed. He also led operations in Mizoram, which resulted in the insurgents going to Kolkata conference for peace. He also set up the counter-insurgency school in Mizoram in 1970.

Pictures of children who became orphaned as Naxal s killed their parents. They are almost all tribals and belong to poor and marginalized farming class.

RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi strongly condemned the attempts on the part of a section of the media to defame the RSS by involving its name in some destructive activities. In a statement issued in New Delhi on May 3 he said: "The news of the arrest of some of the persons by ATS in connection with blasts at several places in the past has been reported by newspapers. The newspapers have, however, also linked these incidents to the RSS. The RSS condemns this in strongest words.

"The RSS always believes in the due Constitutional process. The Sangh would neither support nor give protection to any illegal or violent activity.

"Having faith in the impartiality of the investigation, the concerned office bearers have relieved the individual charged in this particular incident of all responsibilities. There should be proper investigation and the appropriate legal action should be taken against the guilty, the innocent should not be harassed."
